Experts at Registering and Re-newing your Company and Premises as a Hazardous Waste Producer.
Environment Agency Waste Producer Registration
AA Waste are a UK based company with expertise in hazardous waste collection and the safe disposal of WEE, chemical, laboratory (lab smalls), hazardous (haz waste) and special waste. We also carry out important company documentation tasks including Waste Producer Registration (Premise Code) if required.
Do I need to register my premises ?
Generally, if your premises or company produces or holds 500kg or more of hazardous waste in a single year, then under the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, you will be required to register.
This means that even if the hazardous waste was not produced at your site, you must still register. If you have more than one premises within your company each site has to be separately registered and have their own premise code. If the quantity of hazardous waste is lower than 500kg in any one year, you are automatically classed as exempt and do not need to register.
Under the Hazardous Waste Regulations 2005, it is an offence to produce or hold hazardous waste at premises, or remove that waste from premises, unless those premises are either registered with the Environment Agency or exempt.
When we register your premises we give you a unique premises number called a 'premises code'. This is valid for 12 months from the date of registration. The registration is not just a company registration. The regulations stipulate that each site that produces hazardous waste has to have a separate registration, although multiple sites can be registered on the same notification. Therefore each site will have a separate unique registration number and require a separate fee.
The premise code is required to be shown on the Hazardous Waste Consignment Note before any collections can go ahead. Therefore any company who is not registered with the Environment Agency as a producer of waste (and producing more than 500kg per year, per site) can not have their waste collected legally and is actually commiting an offence merely by producing the waste.
If hazardous waste continues to be produced or held at these premises after the 12 month period has lapsed, then the premises code must be renewed. We can renew a premises code up to one month in advance of the expiry date.
