AA Waste are experts in the collection, disposal and recycling of used, empty or out of date, powder, water, foam and C02 fire extinguishers.
AA Waste Fire Extinguisher service provide a collection, disposal and recycling service for all makes and types of redundant fire extinguishers.
As part of our duty of care we prefer to use recycling routes over landfill. All types of fire extinguishers are recyclable. Therefore, along with our business partners, we use recycling routes to deal with them. Our UK national service covers the collection and recycling of all types of fire extinguishers including partly used, empty or condemmed extinguishers due to them being out of date.
Our fire extinguisher disposal and recycling service complies with the hazardous waste regulations 2005. Fire extinguishers are classed as hazardous waste because they are pressurised containers. They must be segregated from your general waste stream for specialist collection and recycling.
On collection of your empty, used and out of date fire extinguishers, they are transported by an ADR trained driver to our designated fire extinguisher recycling plant. On arrival the units if necessary, are de-pressurised. The brass valves, metal inner pipes and outer rubber pipes are removed from the cylinders. Both the valves and the cylinders if possible will be re-used or sent as recycled metal scrap. The procedures that we take with used, empty and out of date fire extinguishers, makes our recycling service very successful, from an environmental and cost perspective.
AA Waste is based in Woking, Surrey, Swindon, Wiltshire and Southampton, Hampshire. From these bases we provide a UK national collection, disposal and recycling service for fire extinguishers throughout the year for companies and authorities across England, Scotland and Wales.
Please note that if you only have a single item for disposal then there is a good chance that your local authority waste tip will dispose of it for you. However if you are a business then you must use an authorised hazardous waste carrier for disposal of your fire extinguishers.
Previously the cost of the removal and disposal of condemned fire extinguishers had been taken up by the servicing company, but recent changes in legislation have required a new approach to achieve compliance. This has resulted in increased costs, therefore a charge for disposal is now required.
If our service sounds of use to you and you would like a quotation for the disposal and recycling of your condemmed fire extinguishers, then please fill out your details on our get a quotation page. There is no obligation. Please provide as much information as possible including:
