AA Waste is based in Woking, Surrey, Chard, Somerset and Southampton, Hampshire. From these bases we provide a UK national collection, disposal and recycling service for fire extinguishers every year for companies and authorities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
AA Waste prefer to use recycling routes over landfill. All types of fire extinguishers are recyclable. Therefore, along with our business partners, we use recycling routes to deal with them. Our UK national service covers the collection and recycling of all fire extinguishers whether they are partly used, empty or just have an expired date on them. Our disposal and recycling service complies with the hazardous waste regulations 2005. Fire extinguishers are classed as hazardous waste because they are pressurised containers. They must be segregated from your general waste stream for specialist collection and recycling. Empty, used and out of date fire extinguishers should all be treated in the same way. Once empty the valves are removed from the cylinders. Both the valves and the cylinders can then be sent away for recycling. The recycling actions taken with used, empty and out of date fire extinguishers alike, makes our recycling service successful from both environmental and cost perspectives.
