AA Waste is based in Woking, Surrey, Chard, Somerset and Southampton, Hampshire. From these bases we provide a UK nationwide service for the packing, collection, recycling and disposal of thousands of chemical, hazardous, non-hazardous and special waste streams every year for companies and authorities across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
AA Waste deal with many different waste streams, one of them being battery disposal which has become a major issue in the UK. There are a number of different types of battery or cells, which come in an endless range of shapes and sizes. Listed below is a summary for the recycling of lithium batteries.
Lithium batteries come in a wide ranging family with voltages varying from 1.5 volts to 3.6 volts, high energy density. The voltage is almost constant and this type of battery has a very long shelf life. The downside to this type of battery is that lithium is a very reactive element, which can lead to explosive consequences. You must not attempt to charge lithium batteries unless explicitly specified and short circuits must be avoided. This type of battery is an extremely expensive battery to buy. These batteries are a recyclable battery. AA Waste will collect your spent lithium batteries and take them to a fully licensed recycler where the recycling process begins. The recycling of lithium batteries makes our recycling service successful from both environmental and cost perspectives.
