Nickel metal hydride (Nimh) batteries are normally 1.2 volts per cell. Nickel metal hydride batteries are a new generation that can replace NiCad and be of a higher energy, density and have a longer life. Nickel metal hydride batteries do not exhibit a memory effect and are usually charged with a constant current source. The nickel metal hydride battery does not contain the most dangerous of metals therefore it is more environmentally friendly than the NiCad battery. The only downfall with this type of battery compared to the NiCad is that it cannot be charged as many times as the NiCad battery. Nickel metal hydride (Nimh) batteries are a recyclable battery. AA Waste will collect your spent nickel metal hydride (Nimh) batteries and take them to a fully licensed recycler where the recycling process begins. The recycling of nickel metal hydride (Nimh) batteries makes our recycling service successful from both environmental and cost perspectives.
