AA Waste WEEE Waste Disposal and Recycling Service
AA Waste provides a complete WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) collection and disposal service throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Based in Woking, Surrey, Chard, Somerset and Southampton, Hampshire, we supply a nationwide service. So wherever you are located we can help you with your WEEE recycling and disposal needs.
The WEEE Directive came into force in January 2007. The aim of the directive is to both reduce the amount of electrical and electronic equipment being produced by households and businesses alike and to encourage everyone to take responsibility for the safe disposal and recycling of their redundant electrical equipment. This
in turn reduces landfill usage and greatly benefits the environment.
We work with our partners to achieve cost effective solutions for the safe disposal and where possible the recycling of WEEE items to meet the requirements set out in the directive. We provide a complete, high quality, cost effective, start to finish service, including, collection, transportation, recycling and disposal of your WEEE items. This then allows you peace of mind knowing that your redundant, broken or used WEEE items have been dealt with in accordance with the correct legal procedures.
All AA Waste staff are security vetted on an ongoing yearly basis, they are uniformed and have ID Cards. All of our drivers have ADR Licenses for hazardous waste transportation. We use newly registered unmarked vehicles with satellite navigation and mobile tracking. On collection we provide a certificate of clearance/waste transfer consignment note with driver's signature. These are kept on record for 6 years.
Your WEEE does not leave the vehicle until it reaches the depot, where it is unloaded for recycling or disposal, normally the same day. The majority of equipment currently collected is consigned for physical destruction with recovery of the various material components. The equipment is stripped down and any data is destroyed, any hazardous elements are removed, for example: gas discharge lamps and lithium cells on the motherboards. The remaining material is then separated, shredded and processed. Ferrous, non-ferrous and precious metals are recovered from the equipment and sent for recycling.
A certificate of destruction can be supplied, if requested, normally by e-mail attachment as confirmation that your WEEE has been recycled or destroyed. To compliment the above AA Waste is registered on the Data Protection Register, we hold an authorized waste carriers license and have full liability insurance to cover the work. These can all be checked on our downloads page.
